I guess that for Subaru fanatics, this is good news, because it means that Subaru will be able to focus on the rumored AWD, SVX.

Kinja'd!!!

But for the rest of us, it isn't very good news, because we love RWD, and shit. My Oppo top tip of the morning, for anyone who wants a BRZ, would be to wait until the mid life refresh of the current one, and buy that, because this BRZ will become a collectible. It is rarer than the 86/FR-S now, and it will be even rarer when the 86 will get a second generation, and the BRZ won't.

It might be good for the product since I've heard a lot of reports of BRZs basically rattling themselves to pieces

That's typical of all Subaru interiors.

Speaking of rarity I assume if you kept on stock it'd be worth the insane amounts clean AE86s and supras are pulling these days.

Having owned 3 Subarus, I don't think I would say they've rattled themselves to pieces. In fact they've all remained quite intact. However, also not having driven a BRZ I'm in the same position you presumably are, I made that statement purely on hearsay from the guys at TheSmokingTire

Having owned 6, I can say that they were all rattle traps. Since I'm aware of this being a part of Subaru ownership, it's never really bothered me a whole lot. My least rattly Subaru was an '87 GL wagon!

It doesn't bother me, because I don't know anything else other than Subarus. If the rattles bother me enough I usually rip the part out and then put some sound deadening behind it which usually solves the rattle.

Possibly, depends on how much drifting and media coverage will get.

Remember this?

I sure do, I love that all the cars in that game were pre-fart canned so they all sounded like rice rockets even when stock. The BRZ will almost definitely get taken by the drifting crowd when they get cheaper. The pros already took to them a year or two ago.

The rattling is a badge of honor. "Achievement Unlocked - You actually drive your car; here's a constant reminder"
